As the aeronautic business keeps improving, it must include the greatest and latest updates in technology and that means there is a lot of work to do for on-board communications. However, any modification performed in an aircraft design is carefully controlled by the competent institutions as flight safety is the first and most important requirement to be ensured. In this frame, the European Commission (EC) mandates that the 7th of June of 2020 all the Aircraft operating in Europe need to be provided with:
  • CPDLC (Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications)
  • ADS-B ‘Out’ (Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast)
  • TCAS II (Traffic alert and Collision Avoidance System II)
These systems required are for both civil and state registered aircraft. The details of these requirements can be found in: http://www.eurocontrol.int/spi-ir. This means most aircraft manufacturers will have to deal with design modifications to adapt their current and projected aircrafts models. Those designs will need a specific Supplemental Type Certificate and that includes a great deal of Safety analyses to be performed according to certification requirements by EASA. DMD Solutions has proven previous experience on the performance of safety engineering analysis in the field of aeronautics and support to certification, including avionics and communications systems such as the required by the new mandate. All the projects related on Safety are detailed in our portofolio:  https://dmd.solutions/project-portofolio/. Feel free to contact us for more details on our experience and how we can help designers, manufacturers or maintainers obtain a Type Certificate for the upcoming modifications.
