As the aeronautic business keeps improving, it must include the greatest and latest updates in technology and that means there is a lot of work to do for on-board communications. However, any modification performed in an aircraft design is carefully controlled by the competent institutions as flight safety is the first and most important requirement to be ensured.
In this frame, the European Commission (EC) mandates that the 7th of June of 2020 all the Aircraft operating in Europe need to be provided with:
- CPDLC (Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications)
- ADS-B ‘Out’ (Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast)
- TCAS II (Traffic alert and Collision Avoidance System II)
